10 REASONS TO BUY A MONTANA MOUNTAINEER "HICKORY EDITION" FIFTH WHEEL INSTEAD OF A FOREST RIVER SIERRA OR SANDPIPER.
1. Easy Set Remote Control System: Keystone Montana Mountaineer RV’s remote control system provides convenient remote control of hydraulic slide-outs, electric front landing gear, electric rear stabilizer jacks, electric awning, patio light and LED hitch light. Sierra and Sandpiper do not have a remote control system.
2. Max-Turn Technology™: Keystone Montana Mountaineer campers’ integrated frame and front cap design allows for an industry best short bed truck to fifth wheel angle. The front rail of the Montana Mountaineer fifth wheels “Hickory Edition” frame is curved to provide more turning radius, unsurpassed aerodynamics and structural integrity. Montana Mountaineer fifth wheels Hitchvision™ mirror and LED hitch light makes it easier to see the tow vehicles hitch! The Sierra and Sandpiper front caps provide minimal turning radius with short bed trucks. No hitch vision mirror or hitch light.
3. Galvanized Steel Roof Trusses: Machine fabricated galvanized, stamped steel roof trusses are lighter and stronger than wood roof trusses. The unique c-channel steel roof trusses provide spacing for up to 30” of extra roof insulation. Sierra and Sandpiper are built with wood roof trusses.
4. Welded, Aluminum Floor Joists: The Montana Mountaineer RV’s floor is completely framed with welded aluminum floor joists for maximum strength without extra weight. Sierra and Sandpiper floors are framed with wood floor joists in the main living area and kitchen (downstairs) and aluminum floor joists in the bedroom and bathroom (upstairs).
5. Goodyear™ Tires: Every Montana Mountaineer fifth wheel runs on 16" E-range Goodyear™ tires and 8-lug wheels with 6000 lbs. Dexter E-Z Lube™ axles. Sierra and Sandpiper offer generic tires with very limited customer service and parts support.
6. Trail Air™ Equaflex Suspension: The Montana Mountaineer 5th wheel is equipped with the Trail Air™ Equaflex suspension, which increases dynamic wheel travel by 50%! Sierra and Sandpiper are equipped with a standard cast iron equalizer suspension that only provides 2” of dynamic wheel travel.
7. Solid Hardwood Slide-Out Fascia: Keystone Montana Mountaineer 5th wheels solid hardwood slide-out fascia is more attractive, elegant and durable than MDF or foam injected molds used by most 5th wheel brands. Sierra and Sandpiper install foam slide-out fascias…why settle for anything less than real hardwood?
8. Drop Frame Pass Through Storage Compartment: The Montana Mountaineer RV’s “Hickory Edition” drop frame pass through storage compartment is much larger and cleaner with Congoleum™ flush flooring! Sierra and Sandpiper have smaller pass through storage compartments.
9. Exterior Convenience Center: The Montana Mountaineer campers’ exterior convenience center holds all of the coach’s system hook-ups: 12v light, exterior shower with quick connect hose, winterization kit, black tank flush, power tank fill, city water hook-up, satellite/cable hook-up, battery disconnect switch, bathroom grey and black tank valves and enclosed low point drains! All of these features are mounted in a durable water proof panel with easy to read labels and light to allow night time operation of all outside systems. Sierra and Sandpiper have a very basic docking station. Exposed low point drains are vulnerable to freezing under 5th wheel. No power tank fill or easy winterization kit.
10. Seamless, 1-piece Dyna Span™ Floor Decking with Lifetime Warranty: Dyna Span™ is available in lengths up to 25’, eliminating seams in the Montana Mountaineer 5th wheel floor. Dyna Span™ is treated with marine grade resin and laminated into several layers to improve its structural capabilities. Most importantly, Dyna Span™ is much more resistant to damage from water saturation than plywood and formaldehyde free! Sierra/Sandpiper tongue and groove plywood floors have seams every 4’ which can squeak around weak areas in the floor decking. No lifetime warranty or marine grade resin.
